PigzBomb – SE QLD Group A8-129 Reunion Caloundra QAM and RSL,  20 Mar 25

Dear SE QLD F-111C Aircrew,

Following on from last year’s successful 50th Anniversary of the first arrival of the F-111Cs in Australia (PIGZBOMB50) at Evans Head attended by Gold Coast F-111C retirees and friends, the organisers of that event, BJ, Boggy and JB (Gold Coast based) are looking to get the broader SE QLD contingent together on Thursday, 20 March 2025 for a smaller event.  We’re planning an afternoon visit to the Queensland Air Museum (QAM) followed by a dinner at the nearby Caloundra RSL.  We have already spoken to the QAM and they can accommodate about 50 visitors, while the RSL can handle about 60 visitors.  Worth noting is that the QAM has a larger collection of aircraft than any other museum in Australia, including the Canberra War Memorial; and they have a Pig, A8-129.  I’m sure many have already been there.

Our plan would be to meet at the QAM around 1330-1600hrs, afternoon tea included, then the Caloundra RSL at 1800 for 1900hrs dinner in the ‘Foyer Room’.  We think these events would cost around $25 for the QAM and $70 per head for an ‘alternate drop’ menu.  Drinks would be separate, pay as you go, on an individual basis.  We will confirm costs closer to the event.

Accommodation is up to individuals, however, the Oaks Sunshine Coast Oasis is close by and highly recommended.  The RSL also has a courtesy bus service that runs every hour to many nearby accommodations; but we’ll need to book pickup times.

SBY for RSVP Details/Timings.  Naturally, it will be a first-in-first served basis for attending.

Cheers,

BJ Walsh, Boggy Smith & JB Bennett
